When we get stuck in busyness and My best tips on how to get out of it
At the moment, I’m in Bohuslän preparing for summer. It feels good to take a break and shift the context a bit.
This month, I have to admit, I got a bit stuck.
Stuck in busyness and distraction. Wanting to do so much more than was actually possible. You know that feeling: meetings, endless emails, to-do lists that keep growing no matter how much you tick off. Everything feels urgent, so we just keep doing. “Next week it’ll be better,” we tell ourselves.
The ironic part? Most of the things on my list, I put there myself.
And still, I end the week feeling like I didn’t get anywhere.
The great news? It’s not just me or you. It’s all of us.
It’s our brains on autopilot.
The not-so-great news? It’s uncomfortable to face the truth and realise we can do something about it.
It sounds simple, we know it and yet, it’s so difficult to do.
When the shoulds and musts pile up, it’s easy to forget.
So this month, I’m sharing my top 3 go-to resets for when busyness takes over.
They’re simple, tested, and they truly work. If you start, and keep going.
My 3 go-to resets when busyness takes over
1️⃣ When you feel like you’re never getting anywhere
Take time to limit your choices and decide when is it good enough.
The to-do list will never be done, but you can decide when to feel good about your work.
Each Monday, I set my Top 3 priorities for the week.
At the end of each day, I note one thing I’m proud of, however small.
That small act helps me shift from “not enough” to “progress made.”
2️⃣ When you know you need a break but feel like you don’t have time
Take a five-minute pause and do something completely different.
A reset between meetings: a walk, a song, a stretch.
It’s not wasted time, it’s a tiny investment for a big return: presence.
And nothing beats presence when it comes to handling everything with calm and clarity.
3️⃣ When you find yourself striving for “better later”
Practice gratitude.
There’s no perfect moment or perfect life waiting around the corner.
By asking myself what I’m grateful for right now, I appreciate what I already have, and stop chasing what’s next.
Whats on my radar
📚 Book I’m reading
Inner Growth as a Teamsport, an inspiring case study about how Icebug implemented the IDG (Inner Development Goals) framework in their leadership and team development.
It’s a great example of what happens when self-leadership becomes a shared responsibility.
